Weekend in New Orleans Guide ⚜

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

A guide to the ultimate weekend getaway to the Big Easy. Take a peek into how you can conquer your next trip to NOLA!

My last trip to New Orleans was amazing! We were only there for a weekend but believe it or not, we successfully made the most out of it and got to do things all over the city. Hope you find all these tips and info super helpful when you make your way to the Big Easy.

Magazine Street

This is a street full of amazing restaurants, cute shops and so much more. My personal favorite was the NOLA sign! (New Orleans, LouisianA) You must stop by and get some great pics I did and it was the highlight of my day. Plus it's a short walk from the Lafayette Cemetery. (where they filmed @theoriginals )

I definitely think you should see the above ground cemetery its definitely an experience. Magazine street is your go to for some great pizza. Personally the cheesiest pizza I've ever had was at Magazine Pizza. We ordered Uber Eats to get it at the hotel and it was so worth it, an absolute MUST try.

French Quarter

There's Shops, Street food & DRINKS! The French Quarter is a definite must, it's the heart of the historic district of NOLA known for its vibrant nightlife and cast iron balconies. Only a couple blocks is the French Market! The French Market is pretty much a flea market style but offers some great gifts, good food, and cheap souvenirs(get them while you're here).

Right outside the market, you can taste test tons of amazing hot sauces at The Pepper Palace. I even bought their garlic hot sauce because I was instantly addicted! I even got it past security on my carry on by using empty travel bottles to put the hot sauce in. Jackson Square is a walk away, get some great pictures by the St. Louis Cathedral. Along the way, you'll find the world-famous Jackson Brewery where you can go inside and take a picture with the huge neon fleur-de-lis ⚜.

Creole Queen

A Steamboat tour is a must, I found a great deal on Groupon which was totally worth it! You can purchase drinks on board, a food package is also available for purchase ahead of time (I decided to save that money and eat afterward). On the steamboat, you can enjoy AC from inside or you can go outside for some amazing views of the Mississippi River.

During the ride you will hear tons of facts and history about the Mississippi river on the intercom. It's about 3 hours long and you need to call and make a reservation ahead of time (due to covid). The Queen Creole isn't the only way you can enjoy the Mississippi, you can also choose to go on the Natchez which is another very popular steamboat!

Café Du Monde & Café Beignets

These Cafe's have been around for centuries! Jazz music playing in the streets outside Café Du Monde makes the line totally worth it! Only thing is, you will have to find your own seat there are no servers. You walk up to order and try to find a seat. The best bet is to go with someone who can save the seat while you wait in line to order!

Café Du Monde was established 1862 and it has definitely kept those vibes. Up the street, you'll find Café Beignets! They have way more delicious food options, Vintage décor and a self playing piano for ambiance. It's not as big but it's also not as crowded & absolutely worth visiting!
