Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Orlando is mainly known for Mickey Mouse. The Heart of the City is Lake Eola. Step inside this insider guide to know what the locals know.

As a Local of Orlando, I spent most of my 20s wandering throughout the city. I have worked in all walks of life from food service to gas stations to office positions. In this post, I'll highlight the top ways to spend your time in the heart of the city Downtown Orlando has so much to offer this is a quick look into how you can conquer your time here in the city beautiful.

Swans

Orlando has had Swans at Lake Eola since 1922, and they have an 82 percent survival rate compared to Swans that live in the wild. The lake is full of gorgeous black & white Swans.

You can even enjoy a ride on a Swan paddle boat for a small fee. You can always go on Groupon for great deals! The swans are now a symbol of Lake Eola Park.

Sundays

Prior to COVID-19 Lake Eola was a go-to for Locals. Every Sunday the Orlando Farmers Market was open from 9 am - 4 pm. They feature street food, local art, specialty drinks including coconut cups & gorgeous views of Lake Eola!

The area was always full of vendors where you can purchase all types of art, plants, and food! When the Orlando Farmer's market returns we can update this post to give you all the latest.

Recreation

Lake Eola Park is full of things to do. Have a picnic and enjoy the gorgeous view. Playground & bathrooms are on-site for your convenience! Grab your camera because this is the perfect time to get some pics! The lake has some great spots for photoshoots such as The Chinese Pavilion is called a ting! ⛩️

The Amphitheatre at Lake Eola has been painted as a rainbow as a memorial to those who lost their lives at Pulse. Though it hasn't been used for a while and there has been some talk about demolishing it, today it stands tall. I remember being a kid and having field trips to the Amphitheatre and watching performances on the metal seats.

Eat & Drink

There are so many amazing place to eat around Lake Eola. Restaurants on the lake include good food & views of the Lake Eola Fountain ⛲️ World of Beer is a personal favorite!

They allow dogs on the patio to have a great beer list and have a menu with tons of options! A short walk away are tons of other restaurants to indulge in! Find parking near the lake and look up food nearby and explore the Orlando cuisine!

Downtown District

Downtown Orlando comes alive in the nighttime. Lake Eola is a quick scooter ride with Lime. Download the app and get a unique experience to ride through the streets of Downtown Orlando.

The heart of the Orlando's nightlife includes tons of bars, nightclubs and more! Expect to spend half a day exploring.
